Democrats Needed For School Board Vacancy – Please Apply by June 28!

Hardworking Easttown Democrat, Heather Ward, recently resigned her School Director position on the Tredyffrin/Easttown (TE) School Board. Heather is taking a new position to work on a Democratic candidate’s presidential campaign which will take her far from Easttown. Good luck Heather!

In the meantime, we’re hoping some other Easttown Democrats will volunteer to fill Heather’s vacancy which will be filled by the TE School Board by appointment since it’s a short term vacancy that will expire in December 2019. The November 2019 general election will determine who fills the remainder of Heather’s term which expires in 2021.

BACKGROUND:

The Tredyffrin/Easttown Board of School Directors is seeking candidates to fill a Region III School Director vacancy. The seat is open to residents of Region III who have resided in Tredyffrin/Easttown School District for at least one year and who are 18 years or older.  The candidate may not be an employee of the T/E School District or hold certain public offices. The successful candidate will serve a term running through the first week of December 2019.  The November 2019 municipal election will determine who fills the remainder of the term.

Requirements for the position include, but are not limited to, attending Regular Business Meetings (4th Monday of each month), as well as participating in additional Board meetings, Committee meetings and School Board assignment duties as they arise.

The Tredyffrin/Easttown(TE) School District serves the townships of Tredyffrin and Easttown, encompassing 38 square miles in eastern Chester County. The TE School District is divided into three regions of nearly equal population with all of Easttown Township in Region 3.

There are nine members on the TE School Board serving 4 year staggered terms with elections occurring in the odd years (2019, 2021, etc.) Here is an excellent Guide to School Boards in Pennsylvania with information about the role of school boards and their elected officials.
